Inn at the Canal Policies

Check-in is 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. We would be happy to accommodate a later arrival if you let us know in advance.
Check-out is 11 a.m.

There are limited accommodations for children. Please call to make special arrangements.
We love pets and genuinely regret that we cannot accommodate them.

For safety reasons and due to the age of our inn, smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property, in the Inn, or on the grounds. Lit candles and any other flames are likewise prohibited. We will enforce a room-cleaning fee of $250 for guests who smoke anywhere on the property.

Additional fees will apply for lost keys or broken property.

Cancellation Policies:

When you reserve a room with the Inn at the Canal, I agree to hold that room for you, turning away others and you agree to pay the rate quoted for the number of days you stay. With only 7 rooms available, your reservation is very important. If you find the need to cancel I will make every attempt to re-book your room, however, please note the following:

***Cancellations made at least 14 days prior to the reservation date will be refunded (minus the service fee). Cancellations made less than 14 days prior to the reservation date will be refunded only if we are able to fill the vacancy caused by your cancellation. ALL REFUNDS WILL INCLUDE A $50 SERVICE FEE.

***HOLIDAYS AND SPECIAL EVENTS: Cancellations at least 21 days prior to the reservation date will be partially refunded (minus the service fee). Cancellations made less than 21 days prior will be refunded only if we are able to fill the vacancy caused by your cancellation. ALL REFUNDS WILL INCLUDE A $50 SERVICE FEE.

REOPENING THE INN AT THE CANAL AND THE RUMMUR LOUNGE

As our country continues to manage the challenges presented by the Corona Virus Pandemic, we at the Inn at the Canal and the Rummur Lounge are closely monitoring developments at the state and local level. We are strictly following all Maryland and Cecil County public health guidelines. The Inn’s rooms will reopen for guests on May 22, 2020. The bar is open for take-out drinks only. Bars and restaurants are scheduled to reopen during phase two of Maryland’s Roadmap to Recovery.

As the facilities open again, rest assured our highest priority will be the health and safety of our employees and our guests. We will do everything in our power to maintain a safe and fun environment for all our guests. Below, please find the list of safety measures we will take before reopening.

SAFETY MEASURES

  • State and local guidelines will always be followed
  • Text messaging will be used for communications between guests and Inn owners
  • No contact check-in practices will be enacted
    • In order to allow adequate time to clean the Inn, check-in will start at 3:00 pm
    • In order to avoid contact at the time of check-in, credit cards payments will be processed 13 days prior to check-in
    • Key entry codes will be texted to registered guests 1 day prior to arrival
  • The Inn's traditional buffet breakfast will, until further notice, be replaced with a takeaway breakfast and coffee or juice
  • Indoor bar seating will be limited (based upon MD guidelines) and social distancing practices will be enforced
  • Outdoor bar seating will be limited (based upon MD guidelines) and social distancing requirements will be defined by signs and paint on the ground
  • Plexiglass shields will be added to the bar/cash register areas
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided at the bars and on tables
  • To respect your safety, employees will wear masks, wash hands or use hand sanitizer
  • Additional housekeeping practices:
    • Surfaces in the bar areas will be sanitized on a regular basis throughout the day
    • Surfaces in common areas of the Inn will be sanitized on a regular basis throughout the day
    • Guest rooms will be cleaned and sanitized following every checkout and before each check-in
    • Rooms will no longer be refreshed during any stay less than three nights
    • If additional items are needed in a room, guests should text the Inn owner
