My wife Carol and I love music, all kinds of music. Our tastes don’t fit into one genre. I used to have all types of description for my musical taste. Progressive, Singer-songwriter, blues (definitely the blues) some jazz, Classical, vintage, classic rock. It really became quite difficult to put a name on it. I’ve finally narrowed it down to this. “If I hear it and I like it that’s it, its my kind of music. I don’t worry anymore about being judged or looked at funny because I like a particular gospel song, country song, heavy metal or tribal rock-a-billie. I guess I don’t care anymore if my musical taste fits into a nice little package.
So at the Inn we play music. We have a selection of CD’s in the dining room to play during breakfast and sometime throughout the day. It also plays in the Living room/Parlor. We try to keep it mellow. Some morning’s classical music, sometimes with a foxhunt twist or a melodic stringed symphony. Some days it will be a mix of John Hiatt, Bonnie Raitt, and Bruce Coburn etc.
Carol and my taste are pretty much the same, I guess 20-30 years ago hers was a little more folksy-mellow and mine was blues-rock. Actually I remember when I use to play in bands some years ago, if we had our name in the paper or an article written about us, they actually called us a “Blues-Rock Act”. Although I never felt like I was acting it was all emotions and feelings. Good feelings and a great way to express emotions.
