Inn at the Canal is proud to announce that we have partnered with Clean the World, a non-profit organization that collects and reuses soap and shampoo, to recycle amenities from its guest rooms and distribute them to children and families around the world in an effort to stop the spread of preventable diseases.
Clean the World accomplishes its mission by collecting, sorting and sanitizing discarded soaps, shampoos, conditioners and lotions and gels from participating hospitality partners. Clean the World recycles guest room hygiene items at its Recycling Operations Center and distributes them for humanitarian purposes with partnering non-profit organizations. The items are distributed to children and families domestically and in communities around the globe, helping to save the lives of millions through the preventions of hygiene-related illnesses, such as acute respiratory infection and diarrheal disease, the top two killers of children less than 5-years-old.
We chose to work with Clean the World because they seek to run their business in a socially responsible manner. Since Bob, a Culinary Institute of America-trained chef, prefers natural ingredients, including herbs from his organic kitchen garden, while Carol, a registered nurse practitioner, is committed to children's health, we felt that helping families worldwide through improved sanitary conditions was a cause we could truly get behind.
Here at the Inn we use biodegradable amenities that are gentle on the environment, and recyclable to promote a cleaner, healthier world. Working with Clean the World is just another way we can accomplish a world of good by being good to our world.
